Portaal van Vlaanderen

Terneuzen is, together with Vlissingen, the third biggest port in the Netherlands. The Portaal van Vlaanderen visitor centre offers you a unique opportunity to take a look at the maritime world on and around the canal from Terneuzen to Ghent as well as the sea lock. An experienced guide will accompany you on your three hour tour of discovery – both on land and on water. The tour on land begins in the information centre, where a video presentation will provide you with everything worth knowing about the work involved in the upkeep of the sluices and canal as well as their history. Immediately afterwards it is off down to the depths – in the “Bascule†Cellar. This is then followed by a climb to the top of the lookout tower. The programme on the water includes a trip on the canal from Terneuzen to Ghent.

The Portaal van Vlaanderen is definitely worth a visit.
